Canadian County Overview
Canadian County District Court
The Court Clerk at the Canadian County Courthouse in El Reno handles all District Court records for the county. The clerk files and records every case that comes through the court, maintains the appearance docket, prepares legal documents, collects fines and fees, and provides public access to records under state law. Traffic citations from OHP and the Caddo County Sheriff go to this court. The court covers civil, criminal, traffic, probate, and family law cases for the entire county.
Canadian County is one of the faster-growing counties in Oklahoma. The District Court sees a higher volume of traffic cases than many rural counties, partly due to Interstate 40 running through the county. Citations from OHP on I-40 and U.S. highways are processed here. Municipal citations from cities like Yukon and Mustang go to their respective municipal courts.
You can find Canadian County court data through CanadianRecords.us, which links to OSCN data. The main OSCN portal and ODCR are the primary online tools. Land and property records are at OKCountyRecords.com.

Municipal Courts in Canadian County
Canadian County has five active municipal courts serving its cities: El Reno, Yukon, Mustang, Piedmont, and Okarche. Each municipal court handles traffic citations and city ordinance violations issued by city police within its jurisdiction. These courts operate completely separately from the District Court. If you got a ticket from a city police officer in one of these cities, your case is with that city's court, not the Canadian County District Court.
Oklahoma municipal courts are courts not of record. They can impose maximum fines of $1,200 and jail time up to 6 months for violations they handle. Municipal court citations do not show up on OSCN or ODCR. To find your case status, pay a fine, or contest a citation from a municipal court, you must contact that specific city court. Each city handles its own payments, schedules, and records.
To confirm which court has your case, look at the top of your citation. The issuing agency and court are listed. OHP and county sheriff citations go to the District Court in El Reno. City police citations go to that city's municipal court. Do not send payment to the wrong court.
Note: Mustang and Yukon have city pages on this site. Traffic cases filed in those cities through city courts are handled at the municipal level, not at Canadian County District Court.

Traffic Law and Point System in Canadian County
Oklahoma's statewide point system applies to all traffic convictions processed through Canadian County District Court. The Department of Public Safety assigns points to your driving record based on each conviction. Reaching 10 points in a five-year period triggers a license suspension review. The points per violation range from 1 to 4 depending on what you were cited for.
Reckless driving and failing to stop for a school bus each add 4 points. At-fault accidents and improper passing each add 3 points. Careless driving, running a stop sign or red light, and failure to yield each add 2 points. Failure to signal and defective vehicle violations add 1 point each. Speeding 11 to 25 mph over adds 2 points; 26 to 40 over adds 3 points; and 41 or more over adds 4 points. Driving 10 mph or less over the limit means a fine but no points. Fines double in construction zones and school zones. Taking an approved defensive driving course removes 2 points once every 24 months.
